Be sure to visit our Photo
Gallery to view a wide variety of pictures taken of those members who attended our Little
Hearts annual picnic. Underneath each photo is their first name, their diagnosis, and the year they were born. The Gallery includes a musical slide show that
allows you to cherish each image of hope.
Our 2008 "Heart Kid Video" is now online! As you watch it, you can spot the heart kids as they are wearing a name tag with 2 or 3 red heart stickers on it.
We only had a few of the heart kids join us in the filming as it appears that they would rather play and have fun than meet another heart kid and be videotaped! Next year, we'll walk around filming them as they jump around in the moonwalks or join in a game of baseball or paddle away in a canoe!
To see the photo of kids with HLHS who attended the picnic - also referred to as Little Hearts Picture of HOPE/HLHS 2008 - scroll down to the bottom of the page. You'll see a photo of 52 kids ranging in age from a few months old to 23 years of age.

Here are just a few that could be in Little Hearts Picture of HOPE/HLHS 2008. Just in our organization alone, we have 450 HLHS survivors as of June 1st.
If you're looking for current HLHS statistics, please contact a children's hospital that performs the Norwood (stage 1) and ask how many they do in a calendar year. (For example, CHOP, Boston, MCHC do about 60 Norwoods a year). Hospitals don't put their stats on their site because they are misleading as they need to be "risk adjusted". Results for an 8 pound baby will be different than in a 4 1/2 pound baby. So, be careful of the information you find online. We don't recommend you search the internet for this information.
These photos are dedicated to the brilliant cardiothoracic surgeons and supportive pediatric cardiologists who've made it possible for our children to have a second chance at life. Some have had a rougher road than others but it has all been worth it. Many thanks to you all.
